IT Systems Administrator (Programs)
We are seeking an experienced System Administrator with a diverse skill set in support, databases, networking, storage, virtualization, and cloud services. The ideal candidate will have experience in production environments, be self-motivated, and ready to contribute immediately. This position involves a balanced mix of user and system support, infrastructure configuration, preventive and corrective maintenance activities, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is an onsite position in Overland Park, reporting to the Program Manager. Due to the nature of IT operations, occasional after-hours and weekend support may be required to troubleshoot critical issues, perform maintenance activities, or respond to operational incidents.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and resolve tickets for IT systems and end users.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and support Windows-based systems, including desktops, laptops, ruggedized tablets, display processors (DPs), and other operational technology devices deployed in the field.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, operating system, application, networking, and connectivity issues affecting user workstations and field-deployed devices.
- Manage and implement project-related tasks and initiatives.
- Maintain, configure, and monitor cloud services, virtualization platforms, servers, storage systems, and networking equipment.
- Administer and support Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Entra ID environments.
- Assist with user account management, security controls, patch management, backups, disaster recovery processes, and endpoint management.
- Document configurations, procedures, troubleshooting activities, and system changes.
- Collaborate with internal teams and third-party vendors to resolve technical issues and support IT projects.
- Travel occasionally to company data centers, remote offices, and customer sites to support system deployments, maintenance activities, troubleshooting, and infrastructure projects.
- Provide occasional after-hours and weekend support for critical troubleshooting, maintenance activities, system upgrades, and incident response as needed.
Requirements
Experience
- 4+ years of systems administration experience in production environments.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
Technical Skills
- Microsoft Azure Services (AVD, Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks)
- Microsoft 365 / Office 365 Services
- Active Directory / Microsoft Entra ID
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, and Proxmox.
- IT Service Management / Ticketing Systems (Jira preferred)
- ERP Systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred)
- Networking (Cisco and/or Fortinet preferred)
- Backup and Recovery Solutions (Veeam preferred)
- Windows desktop and server administration and troubleshooting
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel occasionally (typically less than 10%) to company facilities, data centers, and customer locations as required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel independently when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Familiarity with IT best practices, cybersecurity principles, and change management processes.
- Experience supporting distributed offices and remote users.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to occasionally support business-critical systems outside normal business hours.
