Location: Ideally Medford, OR but open to Jericho, NY, Westerville, OH or Oak Brook, IL.
The Assistant Controller manages the day-to-day activities of the GL Accounting Department, supervising a team. The position oversees all aspects of general accounting including revenue under ASC 606, AR/AP, inventory/cost accounting, catalog & digital marketing expense, intercompany, cash reconciliations, SOX & annual audits. This position also actively reviews pending GAAP pronouncements and provides guidance on the implementation impacts from the changes in GAAP as well as other technical accounting research.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily, weekly, and monthly activities of general accounting including the coordination and planning of work to meet varied demands. In addition to ongoing month end close activity, audit support, balance sheet reconciliations as well as numerous ad hoc requests.
- Direct the accurate and timely posting of all revenue entries from our e-commerce & wholesale businesses across brands. Verify if there are any corrections or adjustment required to be compliant with GAAP.
- Partner with department/cost center managers to provide support and communicate variance analysis to the leadership team.
- The revenue process includes reviewing all deferred revenue, A/R as well as cash reconciliations. This position also oversees the SOX controls for the revenue processes.
- Effectively communicate variance analysis information to non-financial business partners.
- Work with the marketing teams and coordinate the month end close process for catalog advertising as well as coordinating the digital marketing expenses and accruals.
- Support the Finance Managers and Accounting Managers in their endeavors with the users of financial information.
- Manages special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; CPA preferred but not required.
- 5+ years of general accounting management or supervisory experience required.
- Ability to bring best practices and establish goals into actionable results with a proven record of accomplishments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Highly pro-active with the ability to work to deadlines.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office products; Oracle experience preferred.
